A meeting of the Management CommitteeJ 'of the Canterbury Rugby League was held laßt evening. Present: Messrs C. Hill (chairman), P. Kirton, H. Lawrence, W. Rogers, C. Dorrett, R. McGloin, L. Cox, A. Drury, G. Yardley, F. Rowe, and L. Amos (secretary). Mr H. Lawrence was appointed to give an address on League football, from BYA on Friday evening. Mr Amos moved that a letter should ds written to the Wellington League inviting it to send a team tov Ghristchurch early in June. The. motion was carjied. It was suggested that as an alternative a team might be seat to W«llingt6n on Jane 3rd. It was decided to embody , this in the letter. 7 A member pointed out that an Australian team tyaa likely to New Zealand this year. 1 On the. motion of Mr Amos it was decided that there should be one selector instead of three for this year's Canterbury te&nu » The Match Committee recommended that the McKeon Cap competition should be three rounds, the Vivian Cup one round, and a challenge match, and the Thacker Shield one round. The recommendation was adopted. . The Junior Advisory Board reported that there were nine teams in the third grade, which was the moat flourishing competition. ASSOCIATION. -SOVIET TEAM TO VISIT SYDNEY. (UltttED PBES3 ASSOCIATION—B* ELSCTBIC TBLEOBAPH —COPTBiaBT.) SYDNEY, May 11. After a heated debate the New South Wales Association Football League decided, by a bare majority, to approve of the visit of a Soviet Soccer team to this State, "subject to additional satisfactory information being obtained."
