The New Zealand ricketcis declared at eight wickets for 434. Leicestershire batted for an hour before lunch. The weather was dull, and the attendance moderate. Page obtained a sterling century in 230 minutes, hitting with greater freedom than on Saturday, and scoring well on the off. He was caught at cover trying to force the pace. Weir batted steadily. The commercial community is unanimously in favour of the abandonment of the tour on the ground that at present touring sport is overdone with which both Cap© and Natal cricketers agree. Transvaal, on the other hand, desires the Australians to tour.
