PIGEON FLYING.
SHOW RACE. The Ghristchurch Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Qinb flew- off . its annual show race from'Blenheim'on Saturday, 161 young birda competing. Very keen interest was •; taken by the competitors as this particular race had more lofts represented than any com . bined race ever flown before to Ghristchurch. Tho birds, which were in the care of Mr J. H. Morrison,' wero liberated at 0.59 a.m. in fine weather-and a light nor'-west wind, which changed to a nor'-easter as the birds neared home. . The winner of the Brst an<| special'prize turned out to be Dr. M. Brown's No. 352, which traversed tho distance of 162 miles 1463 yards air-line in 4hr 55min 69sec.
