BAIL REFUSED.
ALLEGED FQRGEI?Y. (PRESS ASSOCIATIQH . TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, May 11. Arrested in Auckland and demanded to Wellington, David Collinson, aged thirty-five, was charged in the Magistrate's Court to-day with being in possession, without lawfjil excnse, of forged . bank of New South Wales notes, knowing .them to be forged. The police asked for a further remand arid counsel for the accused asked for bail, saying that the accused was a married man with a child, tie had had a business in Auckland for the last five years. Counsel's instructions were that there was a good defence to the charge and nothing was known .against accused, who had never been, in trouble before. . The police, however, emphasised the serious nature of the,charge and suggested that the accused was the leader, perhaps, in a conspiracy' to issue the uotes. They were issued in Auckland just before Easter, and quite a large number had been • traced to the accused, . .Bail was refused.
