DELHI, May 11.
Contrary to the reassuring tone of earlier messages, week-end reports indicate that the situation in Burma is causing serious concern in official circles. The rebels, in spite of numerous defeats by the Government forces, show no disposition to lay down their arms, and the trouble is spreading. The police had Si fierce encounter at Thayetmyo against .a force of 160 rebels, who retired, leaving 21 4ead. There were no Government casualties.
