, . _ t —— . INTER COLLEGIATE MATCH. I ST. „ ANDREW'S V. ST. BEDE'S. When stumps wore dru.v>'n yesterday afterrxon, St. Andrew's College were in a commanding position in their annual mutch with St. Bede's College, which was played on the latter's ground at I'apanui. The day. was an excellent one for cricket, and the turf was in good order | although the wicket itself was inclined to l>o bumpy. At the close ot the day »C. Andrew's were runs ahead, while two of St. Bede's wickets had fallen in tho second innings. St. Bedo'a won the tosa and went to the wickets, but made a showing, failing by eleven to reach the century. Had 'it not been for M. Scully, the score would have been very low. The only; other player to get to double figures was T. Thompson, who reached 16 before falling a. victim to Minson'e bowling, ilxtras accounted for 18 of the total. 'The bowling of Minson and Stone proved too good for the home side. That there was not a great deal wrong with the wicket Waß shown by St. Andrew's when they batted, the result being that St. Bede's had to do an afternoon's leather hunting. The first five batsmen made a round SO between them, of which Wilson got ' 20, and those who followed were without exception able to reach double figures. Hartnell did best of all with 58, and Minson was close behind with a useful 50, when he had the hard luck to be run out. St. Andrew's collared the bowling and numerous fours and four sixes' were scored Symes hit two sixes and T. Wilson and Hartneili one each. Hartnell and Talbot scored 9ii for the sixth wicket. The last wicket fell exaotly on the stroke of 8 o'clock, when Galvin clean-bowled Nicholls, when the latter was 80. Scores:— ST. BEDE'S, First Innings, ir. Scully, lbw, b Bow bye* ..82 V.
