As the Selwyn County had declined to join with the „ other two counties, things would remain as lit presbntv ,■ , . Hegarding the straightening of the road at St. Anne's corner, BUrwood, Or. Walter , .said that- nothing. could be done tilf,' the tramß cdased' running on that line. The chairman, Or. biggins,, and the clerk , were asKed to'lnterview the Board on the sub-* , ject. 1 The foreman reported that the Middleton pit had been cleaned'up by unemployed men. Various works in the different 1 ridings had been- done by 'unemployed" labour, Including' the cleamng'np of roads * and footpaths in .the - Nprthcote • Settlement, and the grading 0f certain roads. On Monday a gang - of men would start to clean up the toads In* Belfast township; , and In the Avon Tiding ,the formation of Lanadown terrace and. footpaUi' woqld be undertaken. The Styx,.
