Mr Sinclair Trotter, engineer to the Grey Power Board, underwent an operation at the Grey Hospital on Monday evening. Messrs Alan Kennedy and Vihcent Meates left yesterday for Palmerston North, where they will enter Hayden Seminary, ■ later going on to Green--1 meadows,- Napier. Mr B. "Williams (South Westland) left for Christchtircli. Miss K. Garvey (Bunanga) left today on a holiday trip to Wellington. Mr Walter Leitch, formerly manager of the Blackball Coal Company at Blackball, who has been visiting Westport, returned to-day to Ohristchurch. Mr W. S. H. Wick (Bunanga) has received advice that he has been successful in completing his degree as a Bachelor of Science. Mr George Smith, sen., who has relinquished the position of mine;:manager at the Westport Coal Company's mine at Denniston, was tendered a farewell social on Saturday, and presented with a wallet of notes from the company. Mrs G. W. Meado, wly>. has been attending the Scouts and Guide celebrations at Ohristchurch, returned to-day to Bunanga, ' Empire League. An' address on the aims and objects *f the Empire Service League , was given by the General Secretary of the i Xieague, Mrs J. Hotchin, yesterday to the- .pupils of the Bunanga District .j School, _ following the presentation of, : the Swimming Shield, which was won ; by the School at Saturday's swimming sports. .Mrs Hotchin stressed the .assistance given to New Zealand if buyers . always asked for Dominion-made : goods. A youth named Hugh Allen, while attempting to cycle down the hill at the Westland Hospital on Sunday, had a nasty fall receiving severe, injuries. He had been only recently discharged' from the HospititJ'following a cycling! '■ ac-cident in Cans' square,-OElokitika. Hospital Board.
