A peep into the future—what woman can resist it? Is not the fortune-teller, no matter how amateurish her methods, the most popular person at any party! And when the forecast of coming events is connected with the, absorbing subject of clpthes how much more irresistible is its allurement! So it was not surprising that the Fashion Tea and .Mannequin Parade at the D.I.C. yesterday afternoon was thronged with women, eager to see the advance models from the fashion centres of the world. And beautiful models they were. For outdoor wear, smart -ensembles, of tweed- and worsted were - rivalled in popularity by suits, with hip-, .length coats, plain skirtß, and tuck-in blouses of white or: pastel-tinted satin or georgette, while for m«re formal occasions were attractive slim-fitting frocks of crepe de chine, marocain,.or with accompanying coats of' face-cloth to match, trimmed with fur collar'and cuffs. _ Hats, Bmall and close-fitting and' worn i well off the forehead —in some cases an i inch above the hair-line—were made of felt, velvet, plush, tweed, and chenille, and ofien of a combination of two i materials. Those .with brims—they were in- the minority—were Tipt very large, and were made to "frame the. face I most becomingly. | Evening dresses were long and dignified, fitting closely almost to the knees and then widening into graceful flares. Flowers, very large and important-look-ing, were much in evidence on the shoulder, at the waist-line, or at: the back of Lthe corsage. Evening wraps and bridge coats of gorgeously-patterned gold lam 4 had collars of fur and wide sleeves trimmed with rucking or shirring. The sports suits included many, "sunray" gkirts, gaily-coloured jumpers, scarves, and berets' td match; and some serviceable suede jackets, while; a few of .the golf skirts we're not pleated, but flared—a new note, this. From this 'excellent l display it 'wafl clear that dark green and the new shade of plum-colour will be Fashion's'favourite colours this autumn, while black and. white will continue in favour; that sleeves are becoming wider ,and more important, that frocks will have dainty collars of light-coloured lace and georgette, that muffs will once more be" snug havens for cold hands, that deep berthe, sometimes developing into capes- or even short bolerqs, will figure largely on.evening gowns', and, lastly, that velvet of wonderful softness and sheen will Be worn, morning, noon, and night, for frocks, for coats for short jackets, and lor becoming little hats. 1 DELICIOUS NEW SADGE. k " <- f - * c , r ?X you y have not yet tried this rew Military Worcester Sauce with its sweet and "smacking" flavour, you aretruly missing a rare treat.
