Faced with the prospect of a large deficit) for the year, the Bennett Ministry is planning new taxes. It is understood that the sales tax on all manufacturers and retailers will be increased from one to four percent; a two per cent, turnover tax will be imposed on manufacturers and wholesale merchants, while the newspaper postage rates and the corpora/tions tax will both be increased.
