ACCIDENTS.
THREE MEN INJURED. I | A PREMATURE EXPLOSION. ! (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAM.)WELLINGTON, March 7. As the result of a premature explosion in the Tawa Mat tunnel shortly before 5.30 this morning three men were injured. W. Tucker, aged 61, suffered wounds to the face and injuries to the back, and F. Parker and R. W Stewart wounds to the face and hands. These two were able to proceed to their homes' after their wounds had been dressed at the hospital. Tucker is not on the seriously ill list. . All three were working in a pilot drive putting in a charge, which went off before they were ready for it. MOTOR-CYCLIST INJURED. Roy McClymont, a young man, residing in Gloucester street, Christchurch, was found unconscious on the Main South road, near Dunsandel, on Saturday morning. His motor-cycle was lying nearby, and it was apparent ; that it had skiaded in loose sningle. He was admitted in a serious condition to the Ashburton Public Hospital. He was suffering from severe head injuries. WORKER LOSES AN ARM. Percy Willis, aged 26 years, an employee,, at the Fairfield Freezing Works, had his left arm caught in an ;electric mincing machine on Saturday. The injuries were so; severe that the arm bad to be amputated trom above the elbow. He was working in the oleo department •at the tune. He slipped, and in trying to save himself from a; fall, put out his left am, which was caught in the machine. Fifteen minutes after the accident he was admitted to the Ashburton Public Hospital. He was a prominent member of the Fairfield Cricket Club. \' ' ' MAN'S BODY FOUND IN RIVER. (MUMS ASSOCIATION TNLXOSAX.i FOXTON. March 7. The. body of a man found in the river on Friday has been identified as that of Alfred Towns, a bush man, of Palmerston North. He •was single, aged 54. At the inquest, the evidence tendered showed that Towns arrived at Foxton at midnight on February 28th. drunk. Apparently he fell into the river. A verdict that he 1 was drowned in the Manawatu river, on March -Ist, was returned. TWO PEOPLE HURT. fXBS PBJBBB Bp«eUl Be»le«.] ." WELLINGTON. March 8.
