SUMNER TRAGEDY. MAN'S BODY RECOVERED. | Tine body of a man, believed to be i that of, Claude Hargood Boundy, vho | is said to have accompanied Muriel McDonald, a girl of nineteen,- v on the night of her death on the rocks at the bottom of the Scarborough cliffs,'was discovered in approximately the same place as that of the girl,'at 6.80 p.m. yfesterday, after an intensive search lasting over the week-end; < Boundy,. who lived at 88 Hargood street, Woolston, and Muriel Mfc Donald, of 260 Selwyn street, Spreydon, were missed from their homes on Thursday night. A search was instituted, anda motor-cycle and clothing found on the top of the cliffs at Sumner were identified as . those of the missing coiiple. . The search was continued by , Constable; Johns,'of Sumner, and.others, a rowing-boat being commissioned in order to fearch the coast along the base of the cliffs.- The girl's body was fcund on Friday afternoon at the bottom of the cliffs on which the motorcycle and clothing had been disoovered. Rough seas hindered the progress of tho search for the mam Attempts to reach an object seen at the bottom of the high cliffs, thought to be his body, were unsuccessful. However late,yesterday afternoon the body was found I between two roclts. It was brought to j Ohristchurch, and an inquest will' be | held this morning.
' Inquest on Girl. An inquest into the death of Muriel McDonald was opened before Mr E. D. Mosley, Coroner, on Saturday. Evidence of identification was given by Leslie Frank "Williams, a brother-in-law. He said that the girl had been a tailaress, apprenticed to Owen's, Ltd. fc>he had been of a bright and cheerful disposition. The inquest was adjourned for further enquiries to be made. Sergeant T. Wolfindale represented the police.
