RUGBY. ' MERIVALE CLUB. The Merivale Football Club'* forty'ninth annual report, to be presented at the annual mooting on March 16th, provides a very full account of the club's activities for the p&st year. The financial statement shows that the total revenue for the season reached the - sum of £377 2s Id, not including: the £4O Is 6d which was carried forward from last year, the payments being £B6O 2s 6d, leaving a credit balance in hand of £6O Id.. ISleven teams were entered in the Canterbury Rugby Union competitions, including two schoolboys' teams, one in each Senior A. Senior B, Junior 1,. Junior 8, President's 1, President's 8, under' 17 years, under 16 years, and under 15 years. After having played nine' games, the under 16 years team could not carry on and had to be withdrawn. The Junior 1 team were successful in winning their competition, losing only one game, out 'of fifteen played and scoring 256 point! against 64. F. G. Hutcheson was the proud coach. One hundred and forty-five matches were played, of which 85 were won, 62 were lost, and <8 were'drawn; 1896 points were scored against 1090. Seven teams won the majority of their games, while two had canal scores. The schoolboys under 6st 71b, lost only two games, the Senior A team:lost three, the Senior B team lost four.' the Junior 8, President's 1, and under 17 years teams lost five games each. The President's 8 and schoolboys under Bst teams lost six games. The Jumor l team-scored the highest number of points- and the schoolboys under 6st 71b bad the least number oj.points scored against them The Easter match with the Alhambra team played -at was won 16-18, whiip the team that visited the West Coast lost both Greymonth and Bokltika. ' Messrs 2. Ashton, R. Brosnan, F. G. Chick, N. Carnegie, J. Donaldson, R. G. Drake, X>- H. Duggan, R. Evans, F. L. Glasson, 8.. Hardle, J. Lattimore, 3. R. Lattimore, B. H. Mitchell, A. Mackintosh, H. E. McDonnell, and A. h. Tucker, having completed twenty years' service to the club, were appointed life members. The cricket club, under B. W. Blasey, had teams playing in the Canterbury Cricket Association's Third and Fourth Grades, ana these had reached the final games. The annual picnic and the dance had both been very successful. Thanks vera expressed to the coaches of the various teams, and to those who had assisted in other way*. CHRISTCHUftCH CLUB. The" past season was probably the most successful, from a playing point of view, in the history of the Christchurch Football Club, states the' sixty-fourth annual report of the club, which Is to bo presented at the annual meeting on March llth. The ctnb had been presented by Miss Catherall with a cu.p to be awarded to the most improved player in the Senior ,A team. - RUGBY LEAGUE. SYDENHAM CLUB. The annual meeting of the Sydenham Rngby League, Football Club was 'held in the ElginStreet Hall on Thursday .evening. Mr P. Ring, who presided over an attendance of 80 members, outlined the position of the club! Mr W. Griffiths (patron) and Mr L. Amos, of the Centre, then spoke, dealing with the game and prospeets for .the coming season. „ t ' Opening day was fixed for .March 28th. ■ The balance-sheet, .which showed a credit balance of £4 OAlld, wis adopted.
