ELLESMERE CLUB. The annual meeting •£ tho Ellesmere Golf Club was held in Irtsestonon Thursday evening, m* B. o: Sower presided over a' good attendance, ' The report referred to the deatH-oi th£ patron, Mr h. Bonnington, and, the meeting paid a silent tribute of respect to his memory. .. • ■ ... < . . ■ ■■ I Continuing, tho report stated that 25 new | members had joined, the total now being 82. Keen Interest had shown in the club competitions, _and iieveral , inter-club matches hod been played. Theportion of the domain on which the.llnka were situated had been leased from the Domain Board and sub-leased for grating at the same rental. A good -deal, of expense had , been involved in forming thfee newjrreens, but when these were in playing t5, w ? would be* no further congestion on the link*. I Tho balance-sheet showed a credit of £l4 Is Td.* the principal items of revenue 'being : 494 IBs in subscriptions, £4l 10s in. entrance fees, and £34 16s in competition fees. Voughan, stated that j play last *eason had been conducted for the first time under the Ij.G.U. rules, and flftpon ] members had earned handicaps of Matches had been played against Bokata, Arondale, and Dfirfleld. . _ , . . i The report'and were adopted, The resignations from tnembership of Mr and Mrs A. Shaw were' accepted, and the following new members were enrolled: MM i P. J. I&lleher, Mrs B. T. McMillan, Mt B. Lambie. and Miss A. M. Wellwood. .The eleotion of officers resulted: Patron, Mr H Neave: president, Dr. W. A. Johnston, senior vice-president, E." W. Huipt; .^ ni ° r vice-president, Mr G. W. B. Osborne: captain Mr D. Fishes; auditor, Mr S. Bongard. . • \The- retiring president- yielded tho chaw to his successor, Dr. Johnston. - Y ■■ ' In recognition of Mr F. B.- Woodard s services as secretary ifor the past ten y,ears, he a'nd Mrs Woodard -were elected honorary members' for two seasons. > r : A recommendation from the committee that ] the course should be bunkered was considered. It was agreed that Mr Jj A. Clements should 1 be asked to present ft comprehensive scheme of lay-out, to include' eventually .eighteen hoIOT. and that the actual work should bo done by the members. ■ A fee of 5s was added to the subsciiptions to cover catering costs. ' -i A member suggested; that those unable to 1 nlav in competition ..matches fon Sattrfdats i should bo permitted to h*nd in their cards j on a later stipulated date. Mr D. Taylor | objected to tho propdsal on the ground that , oil members participating in a competition should play under identical!, conditions. : It was agreed to adhere tq the rule under which matches milst be completed on the day set down, unless postponed by the committee. It was agreed that members who desired the- services of a professional should lodge their names with the secretary, and that consideration should .then be given to the,question of engaging a coach. • The opening date was fixed for April Uth. Mr D. Taylor hs-ntied to • the president a photograph of the late patron, a gift to the club from Mrs L. Bonnington. The photo*graph is to be hung in the pavilion. The meeting carried a vote' of thanks with the retiring president.
