EWE FLOCK COMPETITION. \ The Canterbury A. and P. Association has issued conditions of the-South-down ewe flock competition which it recently decided to inaugurate. The value of these competitions is unquestioned, A similar competition in England has done a great deal to raise the Southdown flock standard there.- It is intended by the Association to extend, j later on, the competitions to other breeds i in Canterbury. The entries close on I March 25th, 1981, with the secretary, i Mr M. E. Lyons, tho entry fee being l £1 Is. Judging will take place early in April. The conditions are as follows:—' 1. Ewes only to be judged. 2. Flocks to be eligible shall consist of 50 ewes or more of the age of one shear upwards. ' 3. That all .ewes of one shear or over included iq the owner 's flock return be included in t\oee judged, any shortage to be accounted for. 4. That a copy of the flock return the owner has made-or intends to make i to his Breed Society covering tho. I 1931 mating be supplied to the, secretary of the .Canterbury A. and P. Association when entering. St Flocks to be registered ia any recognised flock book and located south of the Conway Biver and north of* the Waitaki-River. 6. The owner of'the flock scoring the . highest number of.,points to have his . name engraved on a Perpetual Challenge Shield. - A miniature cup will be? presented to ,thc shield hojder. on the return- of the trpphy.
