LANCASTER PARK

A RESERVE FUND. DECISION OP BOARD OP CONTROL. The Lancaster Park Board of Control met last night, Mr C. S. McCully presiding. Others present were MesSrs J. K. Moloney, E. Beattie, A, E. McPhail, W. L. King, W. Plewellyn, and J. O. McGillivray (secretary). The Canterbury Cricket Association wrote asking the Board to convey its Appreciation to the groundsman (Mr T. Hallam) and his staff for the excellent wickets provided for, the recent Plunket Shield matches against Auckland and Wellington. - , 1 Mr McPhail said .that the Board should make some endeavour to create a reserve fund. Mr Moloney suggested that the sum of £IOOO should be aimed at. ; Mr McPhail: The Board's outgoings per year are ,£IOOO, expended in keeping the grounds in good order. Mr Moloney remarked that the embankment had been gteatly appreciated by the spectators. Mr Beattie said that when the Board had had a big balance in the past the money had been spent on work that could, perhaps, have been done without. Mr McPhail: Our intention was always to improve the accommodation. Mr King* said that the embankment had been a very necessary improvement. The Board had lost nothing by the expense. ' There would be no.need to spend money on accommodation for some time to come.

Mr McPhaiJ moved that £IOO should lie set aside and placed on deposit in the tank as a reserve funcT. • It was decided to adopt the idea of a reserve fund, to make the first amount £IOO, and to add to it as'funds become available. on the grounds, Mr King said that the fence rpunfl the oval had been painted, and the rear of the embankment was being filled up. On two or three occasions fire had broken out in the east stand, and it was necessary that some fire'hose should be provided. It was decided to make enquiries regarding the purchase of hosing, and to leave" the carrying out of drainage improvements t6 the Ground Committee.

The statement of receipts and' payments for the period December 11th to March sth showed a credit balance of £290 19s 3d. j
