PERSONAL. (SPECIAL TO THE PRESS.) GBEYMOUTH, March 5. Superintendent P, Deere leaves tomorrow for iNelsou to attend the United Fire Brigades' Association's Conference, of which he is president. Mr Fred. Garth left to-day 011 a holiday trip to Wellington. Mr P. E. Jackson, who has been visiting Greymouth, left to-day on return to Wellington. Mr Corby Haekett, of the Greymouth railways staff, is visiting Frankton Junction. Mr D. 11. McMillan, who succeeds Mr T. Druminond as Public Works overseer at Karamea, left Greymouth for Karamea yesterday. Cavaliere Giovanni Formicliella, Con-•nl-General for Italy in New Zealand, Twill arrive in Greymouth on Saturday On an official visit. Mr A. T. Donnelly, of Christchurch, is visiting Greymouth. Mr Frank Bell (Sydney) is visiting Iris sister, Mrs W. Grcenhill, GreyJnoutii. Mr Sam Beaton, captain of the TayJorvillc Soccer Club, leaves on Saturday on a trip to England. He will be tendered a farewell social at Bruiiner pit Friday evening. Mr F. Martin has resigned his position in the Grey Hospital and has Returned to Westport. The wedding of Mr E. Seott and Miss J. Campbell takes place at Stockton tomorrow. Girl Guides. The Keefton Girl Guides, in charge ®f Captain Kearns, will leave to-mor-row for Christchurch to take part in ♦he welcome to Lady Baden-Powell, Chief Guide. Croquet. A competition afternoon was held yesterday at >the Makura Croquet Club's green. A putting competition was won by Mrs E. Warnes, the goldcroquet - competition by Mrs Mercer, and the circle competition by Mrs J. W. Hannan.
• ■ Grey Rifle Club. The fourth weekly competition for the Grey Defence Rifle Club cups resulted in the president Rifleman C. Richardson, securing top score with 99, which included a possible at 700 yards. Rifleman Ml Garth was- runner-Up with 88. Rifleman Richardson is now asHured of the prize, having 13i points in with one shoot still to go. Rifleman Bharman, with 6J points, is his nearest opponent. Dislocated Arm. A young lad named Leonard -Craig, it brother of Mrs' A; H. Patersoii, Greymouth, tripped" over a rope last evening and sustained a dislocated arm. School Teacher on Leave. Miss M. Hutton, infant mistress at the Beef ton District High School, has been granted two months? leave of absence on account of sickness. m V Erosion at Teremakau. Some time ago the District Engineer, Mr T, A.
