CRICKET. A cricket match will be played at Officers' Point 011 Sunday, between teams representing the Lyttelton Miniature Bifles Cricket Club and the Lyttelton Lodge of the 8.A.0.8. The teams are as follows:—Eifle Club: T. Swain, W. Whitford, E. Whitford, A. Beid, C. Thomas,. P. Oakley, J. Souter, T. Young, B. Swain, F. Coleman, Garner. 8.A.0.8.: B. Graham, A. Fenton, C. Wells, S. Wells, N. McCormick, J. Gladding, B. Nixon, G. Briggs, t T. Greatbatch, IV Wells, —. Gerrard. Emergencies: H. Tuck and W. C. Conibear. licensing, Committee. The quarterly meeting of the Lyttelton Licensing Committee was held yesterday. Present: Mr H. A. Young, S.M. (chairman), Messrs Orton Bradley, D. Mcßae, and W. Wales. The chairman said the police reported that the hotels in the district had been conducted satisfactorily. An application for a transfer of the license of the Canterbury Hotel, Lyttelton, from Charles Allington to Austin Culling, was granted.

Magistrate's Court. * Mr H. A. Young, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. For procuring liqupr during the currency of his prohibition order, James Frederick Markham was convicted and fined 10s and costs 10s, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. Frederick Harold Knights, a second offender, was convicted and fined £1 with costs 10s for a breach of his prohibition order, George Huckle, for procuring liquor whilst prohibited, was convicted and fined 10s with costs 10s. In the action in which T. A. Mahar claimed from the Lyttelton Borough Council the sum of £49 for damage caused to hiß property through an alleged defective culvert, the case was adjourned Until March 18th. In the following civil cases judgment was given by default: Morris Scott v. N. Goodmanson, £s'7s (id, and costs 15s; George Whitford v. David Dodds, £9 Is and coßts 15s. In a judgment summons case Douglas Jones was ordered to pay G. E. Simpson, trading as thp. Letchworth Photographic Supplies Company, the sum o£ £3 14s 7d forthwith, in default four days' imprisonment.

I ■ Children's Court. Mr n. A.; Young, S.M., presided at a sitting of a Children's Court. Two boys were charged with having Been guilty of cruelty by terrorising sheep. They admitted . the offence, Sergt. W. H. Dunlop said that a number of sheep had been landed in the pens from the Chatham Islands steamer. The sheep were in an exhausted condition and the two boys> with others, entered the pens and chased' and rode some of them, with a result that several of the animals - died. Both boys attended school regularly and had good reports. In reply to the Magistrate the fathers of the boys said they had given the culprits a thrashing. I The Magistrate said that in view of I their good report and the fact that 1 they had already received a thrashing, I he would not inflict' anf penalty. The I boys . were admonished .and discharged. Oddfellows' Lodge. ! The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal City of Norwich Lodge was hold on Tuesday evening, when N.G, Bro. J. B. Gilder presided. Four members de- ; clared on the funds of the Lodge, while one.-declared off. Sick pay amounting ' to-'£2l 8s 4d waß passed for One 1 new member was initiated'into the Lodge. An invitation to attend the 'next meeting of the Loyal -Kaia Toa , Lodge to be held on Mcnday evening, when' a Dutch Auction in aid of the Earthquake Belief Fund will be conducted, was accepted, the N.G. expressing a hope that there would be, a record attendance: 'The social programme for. 1931-32 was under discussion andit was resolved that the programme be the same as for the present year with the necessary alteration of dates,-Two letters of recommendation 1 were granted on behalf of brethren and one was received on behalf of a visiting member. The .Lodge voted $5 5s to tlie funds of the Juvenile Lodge. \
