A NEW ROAD.
NORTH BEACH TO WAIMAKARIRI. To-morrow, it is hoped, motorists will be able t& drive their .ear*.from the present' end of Beach road, New Brighton, along a newly-formed road ' toWaimairi beach, Mr A, R. Blank told a Pbbss reporter last evening. At the | Brooklands end of-the beach the few. chains of reading necessary to connect tho beach with tbe.road should be, completed within a few weeks, so that' - it. wili then be possible for motorists to ;make the round trip from New Brighton along the beach, to Brooklands, and home by the North road. ' Through the .agency of Mr W. P. Spencer, of the Waimairi County Council, and of Mr Blank, the road was. started some weeks ago, and, the - work haß been done by reHof workers employed by the Waimairi County 'Council. The present surface - has been formed by bundles of broom tied together with wire. If, after a trial, they do not prove satisfactory, wire netting will be used for the ,■ surface.,/ "On Thursday cars will be able to go along the beach to the 1 Waimakariri, ' said Mr Blank, "and the Brooklands end should be finished within a few weeks,'' The Pioneer Sports Club will .benefit by the road, so to celebrate its opening the club will hold motor-cycle races on Waimairi beach on March 28th, A collection for the funds of the Waimairi Life-Saviiig Club, of which Mr Blank is i president,- will be made. Horse trainers, who will- also benefit by the road, have i subscribed to its cost,
