' ' WAIMATE. 'The' Waimate Bowling Club's competitions are nearing completion. The championship >rink competition was won by J. J. Healey (s), W. Granger, F. Akhurst, and, A. W. Good. The president's pairs were won by J. J. Healey | and A. W.' Good. The clubß pairs and championship and handicap singles are still incomplete. E. W. Travers, J. B. Robinson, J. J. Healey, C. S. Hood, P. Grant, and E. C. Turner still remain in the championship singles. There was a large attendance at the quarterly meeting of ; Loyal Heart of Friendship Lo,dge, 1.0.0.3?., M.U., Bro. W. Sparks, N.G., presiding. Five candidates were initiated, by the officers of the Lodge, Sister Eiach acting as assistant- conductor.' Bro. F. Johns, of Christchurch, a pioneer member of the Lodge, wrote thanking the Lodge for the account of the Jubileo celebrations. White, arrived in Waimate on Friday evening, and during the week-end engaged in passen-ger-flights, when many residents took advantage of the opportunity and viewed the town from the air. On Saturday, Victoria Park, Waimate, was the rendezvous oftwo picnic gatherings, one being that of Oamaru South /School,-tod the other that of the Smithfield. Freezing employees. The day was beautifully fine, and the Park, which was looking; ; at ;its best, proved a most inviting- and satisfactory place for the picnics. Hot water, etc.,. was provided by the Borough ( Council, whose .thoughtfulness was much appreciated. During the day sports were held by tho two parties, and proved most interesting.'
