DUNBDIN, March 1. ; The New Zealand Amateur Athletic .championships were continued, yester day in most unfavourable weather. Heavy rain* showers, which commOfaced ■in, the moriting, continued throughout the day. ' The track was sodden, and performances 'were- noticeably affected., Features of the meeting , were the 100 yds championship, . which Simpso (America) won in 10 l-ssec; and,put; ting the shot, in which Harlow s-> .Eothert smashed the New cord with, a'throw of 46ft 9iu» whic was 8J .inches better than the New Zealand record. Eothert also won the javelin throw with a cast of 171tt jVr> which was well under the throw ox the present champion, S. A. Lay* _ / E..A. Eose won the three miles flat in.great style, and it .was one ol tne most'interesting races of the kind seen for many.years, being'won by only one and a half yards, Eesults;— ' 100 TAEDS CHAMPIONSHIP.
