POST AND TELEGRAPH CHARGES. existing rates compared. Heavy increases in postal and telegraphic rates are contained in tho now acale of charges of the Post and Telegraph Department, which will come into effect on March Ist, 1931, Following are the postal rates, those at present in.force being added in parentheses: —

Letters and Letter-Cards. Inland: «2d for first oz and Id for each additional oz (Id and i&). Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Irish Free State, Australia, Canada, United States of America, and all other places to which Postal Union rates (minimum 2Jd) do not apply: 2d for first oz and Id for "each additional oz (Id and Id).

Postcards. Inland: Single, Id (id); reply, 2d (Id). .

Registration Pee. For all places: 4d (3d). Acknowledgment of receipt for registered articles (for all places) 3d (2*d).

Late Fee. Letters: 2d (Id). Packets. (Comprising commercial papers, books, and printed papers, pattern and sample packets, and unregistered magazines.) Inland: Id for each 4oz up to lib and 4d for each additional lb up to 51b (3d for the first 2oz up to 21b and 2d for each additional lb up to 51b). Newspapers. Inland: Id for each Boz (Jd). Groat Britain and Northern Ireland, Irish Free State, Australia, South Sea Islands, and many other British possessions: Id for each 6oz (Id). Registered Magazines. Inland: Bach copy, 2d for first Boz and 2d for .each additional Bosc (Id for each 8oz). , Parcel-Post.
