CHOIjMONDELEY memorial HOME.

annual meeting. The annual meeting of the Cholrnondeley Memorial Children's Home was held in the Y.M.C.A. building yesterday afternoon, when there was a good attendance, presided over by Mr Charles Bean. The chairman welcomed back to Christchurch Mrs J. C. Pairman, who recently returned after a trip to Britain. Mr Bean, in proposing the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, said that the work done by the Ladies' Committee during the year was beyond praise. The report was comprehensive and the balance-sheet satisfactory. Annual Report.

The thirty-first annual report said that the year 1930 had been most satisfactory. The parents of many of the 168 children- admitted during the course of the year had been unable to contribute any payment towards their board; but through the generosity of subscribers the committee had been able to give holidays to those children, all of whom were greatly in. need of rest and care. Numbers of letters from grateful parents bore witness to their genuine appreciation of the benefit tlfe children derived from their stay at Governor's Bay. , The finances had been helped during the year by a gift from the estate of the late Mrs Ensom, and by the proceeds of a concert, arranged by Mrs J. C. Holmes. Acknowledgment was made of the kindness of Mr Geo. Lancaster who had not only allowed the committee to take through his property the pipes conveying water from: Dr* Pairman's spring, but had also given the- free use of a particularly fine section of ground for a kitchen garden; of Mrs W.- Chrystall, who had presented to the' Home a lawnmower; to Mr Chas. Bean and Mr Geor Callender, who had paid for tho erection of a gate across an open road near the Home; and of the ' Canterbury Women's' Club, which had sent several large parcels &f : clothing, 1 and in December had held a "Gift trod Coin after-* noon," which resulted in £6 5s in cash, as well as clothes, books," toys, and sweets being received.? ; ( ; < Welcome gifts of clothing r had been, received from the Girls' Diocesan' 'As-' sociation, and books and' magazines frad been sent to. the Homp' by Mrs George
