• LONDON, February 24. Tie British Government will shortly announce a loan of £172,000 to Nadir Khan, King of Afghanistan, and also a gift of 10,000 modern rifles and 6,000,000; rounds of small-arm ammunition.

, It is in response to Sir Austen Chamberlain's undertaking, giveft in the House of Gonimons oil January 30th, 1929 (as foreign Secretary), "when lie said if a strong Government were established in Afghanistan, Great Britain was prepared to accord it all possible-assistance in. the reconstruction of the country.
