Shelley, who presided over last night 'a annual meeting of tho Christchurch Orchestral Society. ; Tliere had been a few resignations, but thirteen had been added to the list of subscribers, said the chairman. In such times of economic difficulty that showed that the public generally was appreciative of the Society's work. Mr B. A; Home said that it was vitally necessary that more subscribers should be secured. Tho Society could not depend on the money paid at the doors for admission to tho concerts. If each member obtained one subscriber, the Society could carry on without difficulty.

Hay, and Alfred Lawrence; conductor, Professor O. Savini; trustees, Messrs B. A. Home, Thos. W. Dent; arid F. C. Raphael j hon. auditor, Mr H. B. Best; leader; of orchestra, Mr T. B. Biordan; hon. librarian, Mr H. W. Perryman; hon. secretary . and treasurer, Mr G. C. Wilkinson"; representative on the 3YA Musical and Dramatic Committee, Mr T. W. Dent. The balance-sheet showed an excess of assets over liabilities of £46 7s 3d.
