RANGIOKA. Before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., yesterday, Philip aged 77, appeared on remand on a charge of indecently assaulting Si -female child at Waikuku Beach on Fobruary -6tli. After hearing the evidence, the Magistrate the charge to one of common a«sault. Mr Eeid appeared for accused, who/pleaded <<guilty" to the amended Charge. Accused was convicted and to come up- for .. sentence , if called upon within two years, a condition being that relatives undertake the charge of accused, and that he be not permitted to visit any sea beach within 20' miles of Eangiora, unless accompanied by relatives. An application for a maintenance grant by Amelia Ellen Urquhart (Mr ii. K. Kippenberger) against Charles Chambers (Mr J. A. Johnston), in respect to two of his rtas adjourned to March 25th, after .hearing the evidence both of plaintiff and defondant. ■ Judgment for plaintiffs by default was given in the following cases North Canterbury Electric Power Board v. L. Tipler, £2 10s and costs; same v. W, May, 18a lid and costs J J. Trowbridge v. G. Kelly, £7 7s and costs. DARFIJ3LD. The combined Anglioan Sunday Schools in the Malvern parish held their annual picnic at Mt. Torlesse on Saturday. There was a large attendance and an enjoyable day was spent. The Rev. A. S. Moffatt thanked Mr and Mrs R. M. Johnson for the use of their grounds and also thanked the teachers for their work jn connexion with the picnic.
