REVOLT IN PERU.
CITY OF AREQUIPA CAPTURED. STRICT CENSORSHIP ENFORCED. (USIM® JPEJSBB . ASSOCIATION—BX ELECT&IO WLBOEA2H—OOPTBIOHT.) (Received February 23rd, 7.50 p.m.) t.tma (Peru), February 22. Aeroplanes and reservists were mobilised to-day to quell the uprising in Southern Peru, which is menacing the government of the provisional president, Senor Cerro; With a strict cenporship effective, it is impossible to confirm the reports that the entire southern half of the country is in revolt, but the Government has admitted that the city of Arequipa was captmed by revolting troops on Friday • night. Several loyal officials were killed in its defence. Troops are now marching on Arequipa to crush the rebellion. [Arequipa, with a ■ population of 50,000, is the second city in Peru. It is situated in a beautiful valley at an altitude of 7600 ft, has quaint old Spanish buildings and many ancient and interesting churches;] ' -
