I ' AUCKLAND, February 21. .Arrested in Newton at an early hour this moi-ning, Viola- Phyllis Beehre, aged 29, later appeared at the Police Court charged with assaulting Joseph Billings so as 'to cause actual bodily harm. In obtaining a remand ujitil Marcli 2ndj Detective-Sergeant Kelly . said Billings was in hospital suffering ■ with a knile ' wound near, ohe of his eyes, alleged to have been inflicted by the accbsed. It was not yet known whether Billings would lose the Bight of an eye. - „ "I must say the accused had very great provocation," said Mr K. C. Aekins, who appeared for the accused and asked for bail. She was ■ admitted to bail in one surety of £SO, and another of a similar ►amount." '
