SATURDAY'S MATCHES. INTER-CLUB SECTION FINALS. The. Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association's inter-club competitions were brought close to finality on Saturday, the concluding rounds in the sections ' being played in fine but windy weather. ■ •. There will yet be a great deal of work for the competitions committee, as in some sections several teams are running level. The position is further complicated by the fact that many of the captains of . winning teams have failed to supply the results of their matches to the secretary of the Asso-i ciation. The neoessity for this was pointed out in a circular to the clubs, and many teams are likely to be penalised for their omissions. The issue is clear-cut in the A Grade, Cathedral and Sumner each having won all their matches in their respective sections. They will play oft for the competition next Saturday. In the B grade, Section 1, Cathedral is well in the lead, hut an elimination tourney . will probably have to be played to find tne winner on the other side, at least four teams being level on the basis of the results supplied to the Section winners m the C grade are,. according to results received, St. James's, and Cathedral, While although Wesley and Sumner appear to be the section winners in the D grade, this may not be the correct position here, as the worst examples oi laxity in supplying results have been in this grade.
