Two- feature pictures giving' between them the interest of comedy and of the mystery story, make up an entertaining programme at tie Liberty ''Theatre thiß week. ' The first of them is the comedy "Wide Open," featuring Edward fclveratt Horton, who' plays to perfection the part af thtf timid clerk who has never hiM the self-confidence to assert < himself, and whose every woi'd is" uncertain ti*cause he fears that he may offend-somebody,. Some of his dialogue, and the. difficulties into which he gets himself, are 'really' good comedy, while his encounter with a young glrlwho demands the protection",of his, home on a stormy night, and who pretends to he iH, provides excellent' opportunities far ,Jier to act the part of the coquette, and for., him to be mote thy than ever* the snd circumstances thrust him into a position of regpon< nihility, which brings out the strength that is in him, and incidentally wins him .the girl. The leading feminine roles by Louise Fasenda and Patsy Ruth JtUlei I *, "The Road To Paradiite. V in which the main parts ate taken by Loretta Young, who looks more charming and 1 innocent than ever, and Jock Mulhall is of a totally , different type. The story starts 'with a' scene in a : dance hall in the least respectable parts of New 'York, an<T"*ihe interest Is immediately centred on two men of the criminal - type, - and on a young girl (Loretta Young) vyho ' has been brought up by then}, but who re. tains her sense of honesty.- They are struck by her resemblance to a wealthy society girl, and thereafter the story hangs other adventures When she is substituted for her double in an attempt to carry oft a daring robbery.
