REVIEW OF WEDNESDAY'S, SALE.

' Tlie inclusion of another substantial draft of breeding ewes from the North created a good deal of interest in the store sheep salo on "Wednesday. The entry of these ewes assisted to provide prospective buyers at the ewe fairs .with, some indication of what valuos wifl be. A+ the preceding market there was an entry of 1000 Romney ewes from Gisbofne, tnd on Wednesday the total from the same district was 1200 head. Last weelc they brought up to 16s—a good Bale on the .market. This week the pick of the two-tooths brought 14s 2d—a drop of Is lOd. However, tho most of this decreaso can >be attributed to the quality of this week's ewes, which were in poorer condition smaller-framed. Nevertheless, they; sold at slightly reduced values. The figures appear about the Standard value, as a line of two-tooth Romneys from the Peninsula made 14s 4d, top figure of the market. Any other. lines ■of young local owes sold under good competition. Included in the entry was a fair proportion of aged sheep,'many of which were in low condition. They . were v«y, hard, tb quit, and a good many pens were Sold at the depressing figure of from Is 2d to 3s. Store lambs were forward in' heavy supply, but the demand" was fully : equal to it, and a complete. clearance at auction was the-- result. .
