WEDDINGS.

: CAITHNESS—MELBOURNE. | • St. George's Church, Linwood, was artistically decorated for the evening wedding of Marjorie Isabel, younger'daughtor of Mrs A. Melbourne, Tancred street, and Percy Albert, elder son of Mr and ;Mrs D. Caithness, Tancred street. The , Rev. A, McNeur performed the ceremony, Mrs Warrilow, a friend of the bride, being organist. The bride, who was escorted by her brother, Mr W. Melbourne, wore an ankle-length frock of ivory georgette, mounted on satin, and made wijh deep shoulder yoke,- long-fitting sleeves, and hip yoke of ivory needle-run lace. Her veil of lightly embroidered net, fell over a cap of lace to form a train and ,was caught to the head with orangeblossom buds. She carried a bouquet of white roses, begonia 3, and pale pink carnations. The bridesmaids, Miss Mavis Thompson, of Eangiora, cousin of the bride, a,nd Miss Joyce Roden, a_niece, wore frooks of lime green chiffon mounted on orange, giving an apricot tone on which was patterned larkspur blue and cyclamen flowers. The skirts-were flared and a narrow belt of apricot velvet on each was caught by a brilliant buckle. Littlo Fay Roden, a niece of the bride, fts flower-girl, wore a Victorian frock pf mauve organdi with deep flounces edged in cream lace and a flat posy set on tho wide herthe collar. She carried a basket of flowers, while the bridesmaids' bouquets were of apricot bego- , nias, carnations, and roses. All three wore head-dresses of net to match their frocks, those of the bridesmaids being in coronet Btyle, and the small girl's being in the form of a Dutch bonnet. Mr Alec Caithness, the bridegroom's brother, was best man. Mr L. Roden and Mr J. Maloney acted as ushers. A solo was sung by Mr H. J. Francis during the signing of the register. Guests wore later entertained at a reception hold at Dixieland, where they were received by Mrs Caithiwss, assisted by her daughter, Mrs J. Maloney, of Timaru, and Mrs Melbourne, with her daughter, Mrs L. Roden. Mrs Caithness wore a black georgette dress patterned in beige, flame, and gold, a coat ' of black lace and goorgette, and a black pandan hat finished in beige velvet and .flame flowers. Her bouquet was of ! chrysanthemums, begonias, and carnations. Mrs Melbourne's frock was of blaclc satin, with single flower design 'in green and old gold, piped in the gold shade. She wore a coat of black ottoman silk and a smart hat of black pandan with inset; feotif on the brim of fine lace straw. She carried a bouquet of gold roses, carnations, and begonias. Mrs Maloney wore an ensemble of rose-beige georgette and lace, and hat of straw to tone, Mrs Roden wore an almond green crepe satin dress and hat of black ballibuntl straw banded in black and green, and with small flowers to tone., The bride travelled later in a suit of beech brown celanese satin, tailored coat, and felt hat with beret crown of flecked tweed to tone. KNIGHT—BELL. The wedding of Olive Maud, only daughter of Air and Mrs' A. J.'Bell, Geraldine, to Charles Cuthbert, elder son of Mr and Mr® C. Knight, nf Timaru, took place at Geraldine on Thursday afternoon. The Rev. E. N. Blakiston officiated,; and Miss Hughes /was organist. The bride, who was escorted by. her father, wore a higli-waißted frock of ivory satin with long sleeves of white georgette and fully flared ankle-lengtli skirt, slightly dipping at the back. Her embroidered veil was heM in place by a band of pearls and she carried a bouquet of roses, sweet peaB t and maidenhair fern. . She was attended by' Miss Marjorie Bell, a cousin, who wore a sl&veless frock, of sea-green, taffeta with a band of net at the neck-line and round the hem to match. She wore a pink picture hat and carried a bouquet of pink and mauve sweet peas. Mr-Eat Knight, of Chnatchurch, cousin of the bridegroom, attended as beet man. , ' A reception followed in the Town Hall, where about fifty relatives, and friends were received by the bride's mother, who wore a frock of black 'celanese and lace, with u< spray of silver beads, and a black; Bangkok hat. Her bouquet was of pink roses and pink sweet peas. ' Others present included Mrs ,H. Knight, aunt of the bridegroom, Christchurch, who wore a navy crepe de chine dross, trimmed with fawn, and a fawn hat. She carried a bouquet of pink flowers; Mrs Satterthwaite (Timaru), navy georgette and cerise nat, with bouquet of cerise sweet peas and roses; Mrs Hughes, grandmother of the bride (New Plymouth), black lace dress and black hat, with posy ' ot mauve flowers; Mr 6 Wallace (New; Plymouth). Swiss embroidered frock of lettuce .green and black hat: Miss Knight (Timaru), black crepe de chine frock and fawn hat; Mrs Grindell, aunt ofxthe bride, a black celanese frock and. black hat; and Mrs Bell (Fairlie), black frock and hat to match. •When Mr. and Mrs C. 0. Knight left for the .north, the bride was wearing a frock JoJf navy silk marocain and a Bmart black felt hat.' She carried a beautiful fox fur. ■'
