Mr Aruthur Henderson, Secretary i , for Foreign Affairs, stated in reply to | | a question in the Hou&e x of Commons, < ! that ,the Government had informed i the Secretary-General o| the League of I I Nations that Great Britain continued tp support, whole-heartedly, the prin-1 ciple jinvplved in the proposal; to bring j the Covenant of the League into liar- j I mony ' with the, Pact of Parie, and they .were ready to join with the other I members of the League, in accepting i .'the ■ amendments put forward ,by the first committee of the recent Assembly, subject, to the proviso that the ratification of these amendments on behalf of the United Kingdom will be made dependent on the entry inter force of a general treaty for the reduction and limitation of armaments. As regards the general position of the other members of the British Commonwealth' of < Nations, he- recalled the, conclusions reached on this subject during the Imperial -Conference, and said their governments would doubtless address the Secretary-General of tlte League in a similar sense.
