Wilson was ordered to pay the Trustees of Thompson's Estate, £l2 18s, forthwith; in default twelve days in Paparua prison. The fortnightly meeting of the Bud of Hope Druids' Lodge was held, Bro. F. Kirk was elected representative to Grand Lodge sessions, with Bro. P. Quartley as substitute. Bro. T. Fraser, Bro. L. Carlyon, and Bro. A. J. Kirk were appointed trustees. District President for No. 4 District, Bro. A. J. Kirk, P.A.A. The half-yearly balance-sheet waa presented by the secretary, and the auditors gave a very favourable report on the work of the past half year. Advice was received yesterday by the Rangiora Unemployed Committee from the Hon. Sir A. Ngata, acting on behalf of the Minister for Public Works, that the application of the committee for a grant towards special work for unemployed, in clearing a fire-belt area at Maria Andrew Park, has been approved. Six men will be put on to the work to-day. KAIKOURA. A meeting of the Kaikoura Athletic and Qycling Club was held, Dr. R. L. Withers presiding. The chairman extended a welcome to Mr H. Stack, following his accident. The Centre granted the club's application to hold the Marlborough cycling championship, for which Mr G. H. Bartlett has generously provided the blue riband. . The secretary was requested to arrange for logs for the bushmen's events, and for oxtended lighting hours for the dance. "Advice has been received that Mr H. Featherston has "been appointed manager of the-Baftk Of New Zealand in Sydney. Mr Featherston was in charge of the bank at Kaikoura for a number of years, and later was at the head office in" Wellington. Mrs 8. Williamson is leaving Kaikoura, and will; be. entertained at a send-off next week. The committee of the Kaikoura Racing Club met on Tuesday night, Mr A. W. Barker (president) presiding. Mr W. H. Clemett reported having concluded arrangements in regard to'the catering and publican's booth, and the secretary advised) that the brass, band had agreed to play at the gala meeting on the same terms as last year. The secretary advised that Mr E. C. Latter would be unable to act. as judge of.the racing and galloping, events.: Mr E. H. Workman was appointed to the position. Mr N. C. Yale was appointed handicapper for the running events, Mr A. Black judge, and Mr Edward Harmon referee of the wrestling events. WAIAU. A dance in aid of the Waiau School swimming bath fund was held in the publio hall, when there was a very fair attendance. Music was supplied, by the jazz ban<l, and the function was quite an enjoyable one. The bath : fund will benefit to the extent to about £4. , . - A sale of work, cakes, produce, etc., by the Talent's Club, of AH Saint a Anglican Church, was held in the garden of Mrs S. Mander on Saturday afternoon. The weather was delightfullv fine, and there was a good attendance.. The ice-cream stall and afternoon tea were well patronised. J.ne children's. entertainment consisted 5> r a dolls' tea party, and Aunt Sally.' LEESTON. Ab the monthly meeting of the gprings-Ellesmere Electric Power Beard the chairman (Mr fl. Neave) made a presentation on behalf of the members to Mr L. C. Vicary, engineersecretary, in honour of his recent marriage. The gift "was a pyrex dish on a silver stand. Mr Neave assured Mr Vicary that he had the goodwill or the members. , The Rev. J. A. Shardlow, M.A., of Southbridge, has left on a visit to tne North Island. Early next year he intends to return to England. Mr and Mrs J. S. Brake left by Tuesday's ferry steamer for the Nortn Island, It is probable that their future home will be at Auckland. WEEDONS. The Weedons Methodist Sunday School held its annual anniversary and tea meeting. The services on the Sunday were conducted by the Rev. A. H. Fowles, in the morning, and Mr Pugh, of Linwood, in the evening. The tea meeting and entertainment took place on Tuesday. The tables were waited on by ladies of the congregation. Law/Theltev.Mrßunt, of listen waa the speaker, and gave an address, to the children. During the evening a long service diploma was wesented to Mr W. J. Chambers, of Weedoris, for 36 years' service. Tiie annual distribution of prizes was made to the children.

The Ellesmer© Gun Club held its annual danoe in the Lakeside Memorial Hall to mark the end of its season. The members and a large number ol friendß from far and near spent n night of enjoyment to jnusic played bj Mrs Lambie's Orchestra. The president (Mr J. T. Parkin) handed to th« successful shooters the trophies thej had won during the season, and presented to Mrs J.
