SWEET PEA SOCIETY.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the committee of the Canterbury Sweet Pea, Carnation and Gladiolus Society wag held on Tuesday, Mr W. R. Toon presiding. A rot© of thanks was passed to tho American Gladiolus Society for its handsome bronze medal which iB for competition at the next show. Tho following are the conditions: "The most points gained by any New Zealand member of the A.G.S. Points to count three for first, two for second, one for third." A letter to Mr A. Soanes from the American Society stated that tlioy were desirous of more correspondence from New Zealand on gladiolus culture. A discussion took place with reference to the gladiolus exhibits likely to be on the show benches, and, although the season is late, tho majority were of the opinion that some excellent spikes would be staged. It was said that sweet pens, roses, carnations, and cut flowers should be better than in previous years.
