CRYSTAL PALACE.
"THE BIG POND." In his laic.st talking picture. ''Thf Big Pond,'' showing at the Crystal Palace, Maurice Chevalier is more disastrous than ever to tho feminine heart. His fascinating smile, quaint modes of expression, and utter disregard for all tho conventions score him another big hit. Tim "big pond'' is, of course, the Atlantic Ocean, in airy American parlance. An American family, headed by a cliowicggum magnate, visits Venice, where the pretty daughter falls in love with her courier, Chevalier. Th<i family is disgusted, aud more so, naturally, is the American suitor. The father resorts to finesse. He invites the courier to take iv post in his huge factory. Chevalier, whoso picture name is Pierre Miranda, accepts with delight, believing that the offer is a genuine one.
