SHIPPING NOTES. The Kaimiro is expected to-day from Wellington, and will discharge cement from Portland. She sails this evening for Greymouth. The Gale should arrive this morning from the south, and takes in cargo for Picton. She is to sail this afternoon for Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. The Calm is expected from Bluff, Dunedin, and Timaru to-day to load for Wellington and Wanganui. The Wingatui is an expected arrival from Oamaru to-day. • She loads for Auckland, and sails via Wellington. The Parera, -which sailed from Gisborne at no on on Monday, is due here to-day. Sh<* "will discharge sheep, and proceeds to load for Waikokopu, Tolaga Bay, and Tokomaru Bay. The Kurow 'is to discharge cargo from Adelaide and Melbourne here to-morrow, and sails for Tarakohe. The Progress is now due here to-morrow from the south to - load for Wellington, Wanganui, New Plymouth, and Waikato. The Wainui is timed to load here on Friday for Napier and Gisborne. She sails via Wellington. The Storm is expected from Dunedin and Timaru on Friday, and sails the same day with cargo for Wellington and Wanganui. The Totara is due from Timaru on Friday. She loads for New Plymouth. The Holmdale should arrive at Lyttelton on Saturday from the south, and sails in t>e afternoon with cargo for Wellington and Wanganui. The Waipiata sailed yesterday for Dunedin and Timaru, and is due back at the end of the week to load for Auckland. The Foxton should errive at Lyttelton about Saturday from Foxton, and will load for that port. Tho Opihi is to take in cargo here on Tuesday for Nelson and New Plymouth. Mr M. G. Waller has relieved Mr F. Swede as chief engineer of the Holmdale. With a cargo of raw sugar from Fiji, the Colonial Sugar Company's steamer Kona arrived at Auckland on Saturday morning from Suva. After discharge she will proceed to Sydney. The Sydic, from Scandinavian ports, via Australia, was to leave Adelaide last Friday for New Zealand ports. She is due at Bluff to-morrow, and should be at Wellington about December 20th. With West Coast cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, the Shaw-Savill steamer Karanga arrived at Auckland on Saturday evening from Liverpool. She is due at Wellington next Saturday. The Union Company has received advice that their liner Niagara, from Sydney and Wellington, reached Vancouver at 7 a.m. laßt Friday. She is scheduled to leave there again to-day for Honolulu, Suva, Auckland, and Sydney, and is due at Auckland on December 29th. Hnvin? completed her homeward loading, the New Zealand Shipping Company's motorliner Rangitane cleared Auckland on Saturday afternoon for Southampton and London, via the Panama Canal. The Benmohr has left Port Pino for Port Kerabla in preparation for her voyage to New Zealand. She now calls at Picton and Tolaga Bay for her first loading ports instead of at Napier as previously arranged. Sho is due at Picton on December 18th. THE HAURAKI. The Union Company adviso that their motor-ship Hauraki was to leave Sydney on Monday for Vancouver, via Fanning Island. Sho is to load at Pacific Coast ports during the first half of January for Lyttelton, Wellington, New Plymouth, Nelson, Auckland, Napier, Melbourne, and Sydney. The IlauTaki is to clear Los Ang*les on January 13th, and is due at Lyttelton on February 4th. It is ten years since the Hauraki, the first motor-ship built for tho Union Company, visited Lyttelton. Sho was expected to shift to Port Chalmers on Monday to commence her Homeward loading to the agency of the Federal Company. She will then proceed to Oamaru to complete discharge, thence to Bluff, New Plymouth, Wellington, and Auckland to complete loading. She is scheduled to sail finally from Auckland on December 30th for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool, Manches. tor, and Glasgow, via tho Panama Canal. AUSTRALIAN TRADE. UNION COMPANY'S CARGO SERVICE. The following are the movements of Union Company vesels in their inter-colonial cargo service:—Tho Gabriella "was to have left Gisborne on Saturday for Greymouth, thence to Brisbano and Sydney. The Kalingo, from Melbourne, is to leave Sydney early this week for Newcastle and Coff's Harbour to complete loading for Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wanganui. The Kaponga was to leave Auckland on Monday for Newcastle to load for Miramar and Wellington. The Karepo is to leave Greymouth early this week for Edithburg, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Devonport to load for Auckland and Dunedin. The Karetu was to have left Suva on Saturday for Auckland, where sho is due next Friday, thence to Newcastle and Sydney. The Kurow, from South Australian ports and Melbourne, via Auckland, left New Plymouth on Monday for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Tarakohe to complete discharge. The Poolta was to have left Grafton on Saturday for Port Stephens and Newcastle to complect loading for Auckland, Wellington, and New Plymouth. The Waikouaiti 'was.due at Newcastle yesterday from Dunedin, thence to Sydney to complete loading for Dunedin, Lyttelton' and Timaru. KARAMEA'S RECORD PASSAGE. What is believed to be a ti-ans-Tasman record for a cargo vessel was accomplished by the Shaw, Sarill, and Albion Co.'s fast motor-ship Karamea, which arrived at Auckland shortly after 1 p.m. on Monday from Gladstone. Tho -Karamea left Gladstone on Thursday morning, and did the distance of ]490 miles to Auckland in four days three hours, an average of slightly over fifteen knots. Tho Karamea holds tho record from AVellinglon to London, which she established this year. &he sailed from Wellington on tbo afternoon of July 22nd, and reached London on tho morning of August 23rd, the elapsed time being 32 days 4 hours 22 minutes, and the actual "Bteaming" timo being 3l'dayß 13 hours 4 minutes, the average speed being just under fifteen knots. The Karamea will complete her Homeward loading at New Plymouth, Napier, Wellington, and Lyttelton, and is scheduled to sail finally from Lyttelton on January 3rd for London, -via tho Panama Canal. _
