TECHNICAL CLUB'S MEETING. KEEK SPRINT RACING. -ilosc noteworthy of the performances at tlie evening athletic meeting yesterday at Lancaster l'urk was the win of It. A. Jorgeiisen, tho New Urighton sprinter, who continued tis succession of placings, although severely treated by the hundicappcr after his runs earlier in the season. Jorgensen began the season hy racing off the a yards mark in 100 yards, and in iour starts has worked his way back to 'J yards in the 75 yards, winitig tli.it event last evening in great style. 1 V,U111 » generally was good, arrangements " e,n «» 111 ll ie hands of the Technical Club. Joigenseu s win in the sprint provided the finest finish, the fivo runners in the final crossing the tape almost in line, with the pinner having an advantage of loss than a toot from 11. C. Robinson, of the Technical Club, who held K. C. McVinnie, of Technical, inches away. The two others, it. Cordery and J. A. Gasson, both of C.A.A.C., were very close ui>. With half the distance covered McVinnie held a alight lead, which was diminished slowly until near the tape, when Jorgensen finished in a fast burst. Robinson also passing McVinnie in the last few strides. Cordery just failed to get up. Two fast races were seen in the A and B j grade quarter-miles, the first of which was : won by R. A. Weston, of Technical, who has j been n consistent place-winner (his season. I and the second by E. W. Collins, also of i Technical, a promising young middle distance runner. The Technical Club were well to the fore in all races. C.A.A.C. were again too strong for 'Varsity in the A grade relay, these teams being the only competitors. After on interesting half-mile, in which M. S. Rudkin (C.A.A.C.) and M. R. Robinson ('Varsity) finished almost together, the Canterbury sprinters had ; no difficulty in going away to n substantial lead of 20 yards by the time the tape was reached. Rudkin went off fast. in the se 'ond lap of the first distance. Robinson making a mistake in not going with him, and being unable to j>ass his man in a fast finishing effort. Ho would have done better had he made the pace harder all the way. New Brighton lost the lead they held previously in the B grade relay, dropping back to fifth place last evening through the lack of a gond half-miler. A useful lead given by Tj. G. Willis tn Sydenham enabled that team to maintain (he advantage for tin* whM» distance, winning by five yards frem Old Roys, who owed their plac to o fas* run by ,T. B. MacFarlnne over the furlong.
