Further drenching rain fell to-day, mostly in the wheat belt in northern and north-western "Victoria, -where the registrations range from eight to eleven inches since Friday. The victim, Thomas O 'Bricn, aged 47, a stockman, was trying to move some cattle from the danger zone in the Seymour district. lie was swept off his horse and his body was later discovered, entangled in a barbed wire fence. EXTENSIVE DAMAGE DONE. MELBOURNE, December 8. There has been extensive damage in Victoria owing to the floods. Practically the entire State is drenched. The wheat crops in the Malice district are under water, and floods are feared along the Campaspe river, at Orbost, and other parts of Gippsland. Shops at Woodend are flooded and several suburbs are inundated. The most serious floods are at Heidelburg and Kew, where a very large area of land is under water. Several railway bridges and culverts have been destroyed. The Sydney express was delayed seme hours. No serious loss of live stock is reported, though many cattle are marooned. Harvesting operations have received a severe set-hack. The wheat losses are certain to be heavy. Earlier in the month it was estimated that the yield would amount to 50,000,000 bushels.
