CITY COUNCIL OFFICERS.
SALARY INCREASES. Though increases in the salaries of certain employees in the Municipal Electricity Department were agreed on hy the City Council, in committee, last ifigld, Crs. W. Williamson and A. W„ Heaven asked to have their votes recorded against any increases being made. t'l wish to have my vote recorded against any increases in the salaries of tiie Council officers at a time such as this," said Cr. Williamson, when the Council resumed. "To have boys with a. year and throe months' service getting a week, and for typists to got from £3 to £G "■ week, is overstepping the mark." . "Record my vote against any increase also " added Cr. A. W. Beaven.
