ROAD BOARD.
♦ AKAROA AND WAINUI. A meeting of tho Akaro* and Wainui Road Board was held, -when there were present: Messrs A. It. Haylock (in the chair), J. Harvard, 5. J- VojjiiO, and K. McPhail. The chairman reported that as there was likely to bo a shortage of metal at Kaik he had instructed Shadbolt and "Wright to get an extra fifty yards off the beach. Mr McPhail said that he had interviewed the Wairewa Council in regard to crushing metal for McPhail's road, but had not been successful in getting a price. It was decided to sell the Board's house by auction. It was left to Mr Vogan to have Cmlifornian thißtlo removed from the Board's paddock. The question of reducing the staff was considered, and it was resolved to put five men off. ' It vbi resolved to give Mrs Aldndge notice to cut back trees opposite the cemetery; and that Mr Cnnningliam ho asked to cut gorso on Jiis boundary; iund to send final notice to Messrs R. Woodill, Keife, and Peni. Correspondence wni; received from Unemployment Board relative to work for tho unemployed, offering a £2 for £1 subsidy. —Received. The St. John Ambulance Assoriation wrote asking for assistance to establish a free ambulance.- —Received. F. le Vaillant wrote living that the road to his property in Robinson's Ba>y bo cleared. —lt -was left to Mr Wayward to have the road put in order. It was resolved to write to the road ranger and give him a final warning in regard to stock on roads.
