COUNTY COUNCILS.
TAWERA. At the monthly meeting oi' the Tawera County Council there were' present—Crs. 11. A. Millar (chairman), W. M. Williams, J. K. McAlpine, R. M. Johnson, and D. Poody. •The Commissioner of Transport wrote in reforenco to the classification of roads. It was decided to work in conjunction with tho adjoining counties so that a uniform classification could bo adopted for the through roads. Tho Eltham Borough Council submitted a scheme for the relief of unemployment, and for the development of the unoccupied lands in the Rotorua district. It was considered that tho laud selected was too poor for the purpose. The Malvern Power Board advised that a rebato would be allowed to tho Council as compensation for the period during which the street lights were out of commission owing to the w*tcr shortage at Lake Coleridge. It waa decided to repair the decking of tho Waimakariri and Poulter bridges. A deputation from St. John Ambulance Association waited on the Council for the purpose of making an appeal for funds towards the establishment of a free ambulance. Tho deputation was sympathetically received, and it was decided to see what could bo dono aftor harvest.
