A meeting of the Central Board of Solection for Colonial Appointments, of which his Excellency tho GovernorGeneral, Lord Bledisloe, is chairman, was held at Government House on Wednesday for the purpose of considering the applications of graduates of the New Zealand University for appointment to the British Crown Colonies and Protectorates which are under the control of his Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom. Of the nine candidates who presented themselves four were selected by the Central Board for recommendation to the Secretary of State for the Colonics, with whom the final ■ decision rests. Tho scheme has now been in operation for two years. At the first meeting of the Board, held in December last year, three candidates were selected, and were subsequently offered, and accepted, appointments, their names being:— Mr R. O. Sinclair, of Auckland, as an administrative officer in Nigeria. Mr G. G. L. McLeod, of Auckland, as an assistant master (mathematics) in the Education Department of the Straits Settlements and Federated Ma4ay States. Mr It. AV. B. Cairns, as a probationer in the preventive service, Government Monopolies Department, Straits Settlements.
