SOUTH CANTERBURY v. CANTERBURY CENTRE BOWLING MATCH.—In the representative game played on the Canterbury green on Saturday afternoon South Canterbury defeated Canterbury by 26 points. The conditions were perfect, and the play was keen. The skips of the two teams, who led their rinks during the game.
PRIZE-WINNING BLOOMS AT THE CANTERBURY HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY'S ROSE SHOW.—The Lady Rhodes Memorial Challenge Trophy, for twelve distinct varieties of roses, was competed for, for the first time, at the Canterbury Horticultural Society's Rose Show held at Christchurch on Saturday. There were fifteen entries. The winner of the trophy was Mrs J. H. Stringer, of Christchurch. The names of the winning roses were: ABOVE (from left): Eva Eakins, Desmond Johnstone, Queen Alexandra, Mrs Henry Winnett, Charles P. Kilham, America. BELOW: Wilhelm Kordes, Norman Lambert, Mrs A. F. Waddell, Mabel Morse, Lord Lambourne, Mrs David McKee.
