SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS.
ASSOCIATION MEETS. The annual festival of tho Sunday School Teachers' Association was held at St. Mary's, Merivale, 011 Saturday. The day began with services in the morning, which were followed by a garden party in tho afternoon and a communal tea and service followed by tho annual meeting of the Association in the evening. The annual meeting was presided over by Archdeacon Haggitt. The annual report, the adoption of which was moved by the Rev. H. \V. Smith, reported that the past year had been one of steady progress, and that the executive had been able to arrange for a devotional afternoon, a winter school, and a training week. The attendance at all these had been most gratifying and the teachers had appreciated tho efforts made to aid them in their work. The annual winter school had been held at Ashburton in May. In addition to thoso who were in residence, a large number of teachers had attended from local centres, and the executive expressed its gratitude to the clergy and church people and to the school lecturers for their splendid work. The talks and the teaching demonstrations W'ere given by Hiss Park and Miss Kay, and the Prayer Book studies by the Bev. H. W. Smith. "It was hoped by the executive,'"' the report continued, "to hold a summer school this year and the Old Deanery and part of the Grammar School were secured by permission of the Chapter. As, however, Miss Park found that the school would involve too much strain after a particularly heavy year, the project had to be abandoned. "The executive has met frequently during the year under the leadership ol the Hev. H. W. Smith (chairman) and the Itev. G. "\V. Dent (vicechairman). Thanks are due to the vicar and vestry of St. John's Church for the use of a room and to the C'hristchurch Boy Scouts' Association for the use of its office for executive meetings." Apologies for absence from the annual meeting were received from his Lordship Bishop West-Watson and from Archdeacon F. N. Taylor. The balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of £fo ]7s lid. was.adopted on tho motion of Mr l'\ Day, and the treasurer., Miss Fitch, was re-elected. Ihe Bev. H. Williams was elected secretary and Miss Olive Jaeobsen viw re-elected assistant secretary. The Be v. If. W. SiniM) proposed a, vote uf thank* tn fh,, Hoy (~ Bieb. tho retiring secretary, and to Miss Jaeobsen for their work during the past year, and tho motion was carried with applause. At the conclusion of the business, a lecture was given by Mrs West-Watson pii her recent visit to Palestine
