CRICKET. A cricket match was played at Officers' Point on Saturday afternoon between teams representing the Lyttelton Young lien's Club and the New Zealand Shipping Company's liner JRotorua. Lyttelton 122 runs (.J. Voyce 30. retired, Boon 35), won Uio match, the ship's team scoring G2. Magistrate's Court. At the Magistrate's Court on Saturday a youth, aged 17, whose name ■was ordered to bo suppressed in the meantime, was charged with having forged and uttered a document at Lyttelton on December sth. On the application of the police, accused was remanded to appear at Christchurch today. Friendly Societies' Picnic. Although 900 were expected to attend the Eakaia United Friendly Societies' picnic at Corsair Bay on Saturday, only 450 arrived. Heavy rain at Eakaia in the morning prevented many from attending the picnic, although the weather at Lyttelton was warm and fine. Bowling, The Lyttelton Bowling Club entertained visiting bowlers from the Rakaia and Heathcote Clubs on Saturday afternoon and friendly games were played. Since the institution of Fire Brigade competitions between the New Brighton, Sumner, and Lyttelton Volunteer Fire Brigades just over a year ago the work in the competitions has risen to a high standard, and the keenest interest is taken by all members of the three brigades.
