SYDNEY, December 4 Tho "Sydney Morning Herald," commenting" on Sir Isaac Isaac's apIKjintment, says: "We are sure we represent a widespread feeling in Australia in declaring that we regret profoundly the innovation, and the fracture of an Imperial link of inherent imnortan .'e, with the extra significance added that it was om of the last visible links remaining." Mr T. R. Bavin (ex-Premier ot rsew South Wales) comments: "It is a matter of great regret that the time-honoured system of appointment of men from the Home Country lias been departed from." Mr J. A. Latham, Leader of the Federal Opposition, speaking at Canberra, aaid ■ . •'lt would anpear now that the Commonwealth Government, a Party Government has in effect chosen a Governor-General. If the Commonwealth Government actually 'advises the Kins in this matter in the same wiy as it advises the Governor-General to'appoint officers to various positions, then the Governor-General must be reI'Mrcied as really representative of the Government of the day.
