INTELLECTUALS ARRESTED
IL'SIIED TRESS ASSOCIATION— BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT.) HOME, December 3. Alleging the existence of a secret organisation preparing for crimes against tho Government, tho police have arrested 24 intellectuals, including tho elderly American-born Signora do Bosia, widow of the Italian poet and translator cf Shelley. A printing press was found under Signora de Bosia's bed, and sho was accused of disseminating leaflets exposing tho wrong perpetrated under Fascism. Others arrested are Renzo Rendi, correspondent of tho Now York ''Evening Post," and Mario Vcnciguerra, translator of English books. The arrests astonished tho Anglo-American colony, as several had Anglo-American literary connexions. The accused were handed over for trial by a special tribunal. Communist conspiracies wore discovered in the Emila and Romagnano districts, numerous arrests following.
