When in 1896 Marconi evolved a method of trans mitting and receiving signals by means of electromagnetic waves, he made a discovery destined to economise time in greater degree than has any other invention in the history of the world. True, this is not the only boon this genius conferred upon humanity, but this economy of itself is the source of other and greater intrinsic benefits and without it the invention would have lost most of its value.
