1 MAN INJURED IN LEAP FROM WINDOW. FIRE IN BOARDING HOUSE AT WELLINGTON. | I.THE PRESS Special Service. 1 WELLINGTON, December 4. A. ■woman, "was "burned to death, when the annexe to a boarding house at No. 2 Hay street, Oriental Bay, was almost completely destroyed by fire at midnight. A man who boarded in the establishment escaped death from burning by leaping from an upper storey window: The victims were:MKS ELLEN GEORGE-WATSON, burned to death. GRAY, fractured skull, broken ribs, and internal injuries. Mrs George-Watson's body was found in the bathroom of the house. It is suggested that she was trying to find a way out of the burning house, but through confusion or terror lost her sense of direction. She knew the house thoroughly. She actually was the owner of the premises, but was not the occupier, being merely resident thero as a boarder.
Gray jumped from a high window in the third storey; the house is built on a steep hill, and on the downward side was three storeys high. He was picked up unconscious, very gravely injured, and was immediately rushed to hospital.
